****** ****** Traffic Congestion
Home Page

We need to realize that our network of state, federal and interstate roadways in and around the City of Frederick simply cannot handle any more traffic. It is simply pointless to continue economic development efforts that will only further congest our highways. As an example, the confluence of U.S. Route 340, Ballenger Creek Pike (Md. 351), Jefferson Pike (Md. 180), Butterfly Lane, Solarex Court and Himes Avenue is the next major traffic jam in waiting. The City of Frederick is letting residential developers run wild in the area. Meanwhile, the county is under pressure to provide free water and sewer facilities to commercial developers. There is no game plan in place to address the traffic problems that will be the inevitable result of all of this growth.
